A practical training workshop for professionals new to OH


Summary

This brand new workshop has been designed in response to feedback from the increasing number of multi-disciplinary health professionals moving into the Occupational Health specialty from other areas of practice as a stepping stone to further professional development.

Delegates will learn the core principles and practices of OH and how to reflect on their transferable skills to build confidence to apply and build on these and apply their learning to their own practice. They will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and concepts relevant to occupational health.

Detailed Information

The foundation module in occupational health practice is a short course that covers the basic concepts and topics including:


  • The definitions, history, and stakeholders of occupational health
  • The nature, extent, and distribution of occupational ill health in the UK and globally
  • The concepts of hazard, risk, and risk management
  • The required outcomes and ethical standards of occupational health practice
  • The skills and techniques of taking an occupational health history


Number of attendees: Minimum 8 / Maximum 12


Cost: £275 per person which includes all materials and CPD certificate of attendance to contribute to members’ continued professional development.


About the workshop:


  • Bespoke to each organisation’s needs – looking at your requirements and ensuring the content reflects your objectives and that the outcomes are successful and can be measured.
  • Participative in nature and specifically designed to increase the awareness of service user relationship building and its importance to the organisation.
  • Using exercises and various other materials including self-assessment tools which will help to challenge behaviours and attitudes, helping promote an excellent service to all service users and work colleagues.
  • Length of workshop: 1 day – start and finish times to suit individual organisations

This workshop is suitable for regulated and registered health professionals across the multi-disciplinary team who are new to occupational health.
